The National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT), an attached agency of the Department of Education, celebrated the 2021 Global MIL Week by conducting a series of virtual activities held on October 15, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29, 2021 which are streamed via Zoom and Facebook Live via the NCCT’s Facebook page.
The Philippine Association for Media and Information Literacy (91°µÍøºÚÁÏ) is one of the official partners of NCCT in this event.
The following virtual events were held: #BumotoKa: Practice Your Right to Vote!, Children’s Digital Safety and Fact-checking, Data Privacy and Security, Appropriate Media Content for Your Age, Media and Information Literacy Quiz Bee, Content and Accountability: Sharing the Best Practices of Content Creators, and Roundtable Discussion with MIL Champions in the Philippines.
The Roundtable Discussion featured MIL champions such as Dr. Jose Reuben QÂ Alagaran II of the Philippine Association for Media & Information Literacy, Dr. Janet Tibaldo of the Philippine Association of Communication Educators, Therese San Diego Torres of the Asian Institute of Journalism & Communication, Reynier Tasico of the Break the Fake Movement, Kyle Aboy of Yabong Philippines, and Judy Galleta of the NCCT. Moderators of the event were Marlon Julian Nombrado of the Out of the Box (OOTB) Media Literacy Initiative, and Gemma Soneja, MIL advocate and MIL Teacher.
